As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Anuradhapura is renowned for its well-preserved ruins and its significant role in Sri Lanka's history. It was a stable and prosperous center of political power and urban life in South Asia, contributing to a rich culture and civilization. The ruins you will explore include three main types of structures: dagobas (stupas), monastic buildings, and royal ponds. After breakfast, we will check out from the hotel and head to Sigiriya, one of Sri Lanka's most famous and captivating sites. Sigiriya, also known as "Lion's Rock," rises approximately 200 meters above the surrounding landscape. Historically, it was used as a royal palace by King Kashyapa in the 5th century. Your visit will include a walk through the ancient wall paintings, the Sanskrit-inscribed Mirror Wall, and the massive stone lion paws guarding the ascent to the summit.
